Toolmaker

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for developing, and manufacturing or maintenance of progressive stamping dies, draw dies, hand transfer dies, fixtures, inspection gages, and prototypes that will meet or exceed customer requirements. Works closely with Project Managers, Designers/Engineers to meet customer requirements. Be responsible for part and tool qualification to customer requirements/specifications and drawings.

 

THE ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE TOOLMAKER INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO…

  1. Machine die components with the use of 2 axis CNC mills, surface grinders, drill presses, saws, and hand tools.
  2. Keep their work area clean. This includes work benches, machines, and floor.
  3. Mark up die component prints using the OMT color code system.
  4. Assemble dies and adjust fits of components.
  5. Trouble shoot dies in the press and on the bench.
  6. Check die components and prints with hand measuring tools.
  7. Coordinating all the die components, fasteners, springs, and sensors.
  8. Read and understand customer part prints and GD&T.
  9.  Adheres to all applicable ISO standards, procedures, and work instructions.

Reports to Lead Toolmaker

 

EDUCATIONAL OR SKILLS PREFERRED:

A high school diploma and vocation school experience in related industry. A completed state indentured Apprenticeship in Tool and Die. Good Mathematics skills. Possess normal compliment of machinist grade tools and other personnel hand tools. Good mechanical inclination, finger and arm dexterity skills, stand or walk, lift/move 50 lbs are required. Familiar with forklift operation.
