CNC Machinist I

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for using CNC machining centers to produce machined components.

 

THE ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CNC MACHINIST I INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO…

  1. Read part prints and understand traveler
  2. Load raw materials into the CNC machines to produce parts
  3. Monitor machine operation to detect any problems or errors
  4. Inspect and measure finished products to ensure they meet specifications
  5. Perform routine maintenance on machines and replace any tools as needed
  6. Run multiple machines if cycle times allow
  7. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and steel toe shoes
  8. Adheres to all applicable ISO standards, procedures, and work instructions.
  9. Load part programs
  10. Modify tool/workpiece offsets in the program
  11. Perform basic part set ups
  12. Create part programs in Mastercam or on the machine controller and have the ability to use machine tool controls functions from various manufacturers
  13. Perform complex part set ups
  14. Operate machines using 4th / 5th Axis or multiple spindles
  15. Understand Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing
  16. Set-up and use measuring instruments
  17. Have advanced understanding of G and M Code

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to CNC Coordinator

 

EDUCATIONAL OR SKILLS PREFERRED:

A high school diploma and vocation school experience in related industry. Good Mathematics skills. Possess normal compliment of  machinist grade tools and other personnel hand tools. Good mechanical inclination, finger and arm dexterity skills, stand or walk, lift/move 50 lbs are required. Familiar with forklift operation.
